THE MONEY PUZZLE: IS MONEY REAL??
What do you think about this?
A long long time ago a man called Amshall was wondering how to get very very rich. Then a man called Peter came up to Amshall.
Peter said: "Amshall, your house is strong and safe. I have ten gold bars I am worried about. Can you keep them for me?"
Amshall said: "Certainly."
Peter said: "Thank you. Do you think I can have a receipt, so I can get the gold back later on?"
Amshall said: "Certainly." He went into the back room where he had been making a game for his kids, with some paper notes with numbers on. He handed 10 of these with the number 1 on to Peter. " I call this money. "
Amshall then wrote on the money: "I promise to pay the bearer of this money one gold bar." Peter was very happy and went away with his notes.
Later on, Peter saw a magnificent horse. He wanted to have it but he had no gold available to pay for the horse. The horse's owner knew Peter and trusted him, so when Peter said, "Please take this money instead of the gold. If you want the gold give this to Amshall and he will give you the gold," the horse's owner agreed and Peter bought the horse.
Amshall heard about this and had an idea. He thought, "What if make some more money and lend it to other people? They can then go out and buy what they want too."
Amshall did not want to give money away so he decided that for every 10 money notes he lent to a person that person would have to pay back 2 money notes a year, in interest.
Quite soon this idea became very popular, since people did not have to carry gold around, and they could borrow more money than the gold they owned. And Amshall became enormously rich, in money notes.
The puzzle is: how real is this money?
