Personal values vs. Freedom

Personal values vs. Freedom

Does the value of giving people freedom of choice override my other values?

For example, I did the case on abortion and in most scenarios I don't agree with abortion because it is unfair to take life away from someone who cannot defend themselves just because a child is an inconvenience to the parent/s. But I also really strongly believe that people have the right to personal choice and I hate most of the rules I'm bound by at school, etc that stop me from making decisions for myself!

I have not just encountered this question in the abortion case, it is quite universal. In many instances I really disagree with what is proposed and personally would want it to stop, but is it unfair to force my views on others and vote for something like abortion to be made illegal?
How should you choose to solve an issue you think is wrong?
