CURIOUS ABOUT NASA'S CURIOSITY MISSION TO MARS?
This week our newspapers and televisions are full of coverage of NASA's Curiosity rover and its successful landing on Mars.
The Curiosity rover has apparently landed in a way that has never been tried before: It was lowered to the Martian surface using cables running from a sky crane. Using radical innovations in complex projects such as flights to Mars says a lot not only about the determined and innovative nature of those involved, but also about the high level of technological experience accumulated over many years.
However, controversy around the authenticity of the 1963-1972 Apollo missions to the Moon (currently being explored on the Vx Boards) has made me wonder how do we know this current mission to Mars is 'real'.
Is this mission an amazing feat of aeronautic engineering or could it be that the technological knowledge accumulated over years is being used to support the doctoring of 'evidence'?
Which is better: to accept things as truths or to be skeptical?
